Too ill to wait until your GP Surgery is open? Turn to the NHS out of hours service
If your GP practice is in Lerwick, Brae, Walls, Scalloway, Bixter or Levenwick and you need a service at the weekend where you would normally have contacted your health centre, please phone NHS24 on 111 who will advise you of the most appropriate course of action.
If you require an appointment with a primary care clinician (GP or Advanced Nurse Practitioner), then you will be given a timed appointment to be seen in the Gilbert Bain Hospital. This service is intended for urgent conditions that cannot wait until your GP surgery is available on Monday. It is not intended for ongoing management of conditions which you are already having medical care for unless there is a significant change that needs urgent attention.
All routine health matters, including repeat prescriptions must be dealt with by your own GP practice during normal opening hours.
