School Dental Inspections
Every year NHS Shetland staff carry out basic dental checks of P1, P3, P5 and P7 children as part of the National Dental Inspection Programme (NDIP) with the aim of informing parents and carers of the state of their child's oral health.
In addition a more detailed survey of either the P1 or P7 classes alternates annually and the combined anonymous results from this help NHS Boards and the Scottish Government to plan future initiatives and campaigns.
You can find out more about NDIP from the Public Health Scotland website.
