Kathy joined Shetland Health Board in January 2020.
She moved to Shetland in 1990 to set up the first Community Service By Offenders scheme for Shetland Islands Council Social Work Department, having worked as a probation officer in Bristol and Taunton, and as a Divorce Court Welfare Officer in Somerset. She eventually became the SIC's Criminal Justice Services Manager, before leaving to take up a position in the former Shetland Arts Trust in 1999.
Kathy worked as Head of Development for Shetland Arts Development Agency until her retirement in 2014. She has a keen interest in film and maintains her involvement as Director and Co-Curator of the Screenplay Film Festival.
She is a member of the Board of Trustees of Relationships Scotland-Shetland and has been so since 1997 when it was launched as Family Mediation Shetland. Her involvement in the third sector over the years has included board membership of Bristol Drugs Project, Family Mediation Scotland and Regional Screen Scotland. Kathy has also been involved in the local voluntary sector as a member of the former Shetland Film Club and Amnesty International Shetland.
